The Eight at Grand Lisboa awarded Most Valuable Brand Gold Award in 2016 Business Awards of Macau

(Macau, 27 November 2016) Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (“SJM”) received the “Most Valuable Brand Gold Award” for The Eight restaurant at Grand Lisboa, and the “Leading by Example Excellence Award” for the company’s contributions to the local economy and community, at the fourth annual Business Awards of Macau ceremony held at the Grand Ballroom of Grand Lisboa Hotel on 24 November 2016.

SJM and Grand Lisboa continued as the ceremony partners of the event for the fourth consecutive year. Dr. Paul Hung, Assistant Chief Operating Officer of SJM, said in his welcome speech, “SJM considers the Business Awards program to be extremely important in giving recognition to the organizations and individuals that have made extraordinary contributions to Macau’s economy and society. The value of the Business Awards program goes beyond recognition of the winners, as the program serves to motivate other companies and individual leaders to join the select group that is named tonight.”

Mr. Samuel Yeung, General Manager of Grand Lisboa Hotel, received the “Most Valuable Brand Gold Award” for The Eight at Grand Lisboa. He thanked the judges for bestowing the honour on SJM and Grand Lisboa, “We are proud to add the Most Valuable Brand Award from the Macau Business Awards to the numerous accolades that The Eight has earned, both locally and internationally, since opening in 2007. The dedication of the elite team of chefs and service personnel at The Eight has kept the restaurant at the absolute top rank of Chinese restaurants globally, as recognized by the Michelin Guide and others. Annually, The Eight provides over 72,000 customers, both local and visitors, with impeccable service, stunning décor, a vast selection of wines and its renowned signature Cantonese cuisine.”

In addition, SJM was presented with the “Leading by Example Excellence Award”, received by Dr. Paul Hung, Assistant Chief Operating Officer of SJM. The award recognized the contributions of SJM, the only casino gaming concessionaire having its origins in Macau, to the economy and community over the years, for example the establishment of the SJM Scholarship Programme for children of its staff, its dedicated support for Macau’s signature events like the Macau Grand Prix, and to local SMEs aiming to promote the diversification of the Macau economy.
